Wow, am I glad I found your blog.
During the summer months I have been almost hit by a bike twice on a sidewalk, once when I got out of a store and another time when a girl thought she was Lance Armstrong. I have seen bicyclists stop in the middle of the street blocking traffic, not stopping at stop signs and red lights while pedestrians were crossing the street and a guy almost hit a woman while talking on his cell phone while riding on a crowded sidwalk. Needless to say my annoyance for bicylists have heightened greatly.
I have seen proper bike riders but a great deal I have seen are traffic and sidewalk violators. It pleases me to see someone that wears a helmet, and stops and a stop sign, red light and especially, I have seen this only once all summer, hold out the right or left arm to signal which direction he or she is heading.
I have never seen a bike rider get ticketed for riding on the sidewalk even if it is illegal. I wish it would happen more often so some of them would get the idea. There are too many good bikers in Chicago but unfortunately there are many poor and careless ones that mar the reputation of all of you.
